Workshop Hints

 

 

  1. Require registration and/or set a cap for maximum number of attendees

  2. Schedule sessions for approximately 15 minutes longer than you anticipate the course to take

  3. Advertise at least 3 weeks in advance

  4. Send reminders (if possible)

  5. If more than 10 registered participants, schedule 2nd instructor (if possible)

  6. Arrive 15-20 minutes in advance to workshop location to ensure all technology is working properly

  7. Display learning objectives and contact information

  8. Provide handout

  9. Introduce yourself and state learning objectives

  10. Encourage questions throughout session

  11. Encourage participants to help each other

  12. Teach at a pace that assumes a small amount of technology knowledge

  13. Incorporate BOTH “follow-along” instruction and personal application of the tool

  14. Allow last 15 minutes for questions and clarification

  15. Make yourself available after the session in person and through email and phone

  16. Pass out voluntary evaluation forms
